Orange County is the third-most populous county in California, the sixth-most populous in the United States, and more populous than twenty-one U.S states. Its county sea is officially Santa Ana, and it is second only to San Francisco county when it comes for population. The county’s four largest cities are: Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, and Huntington Beach, which each have populations that exceed over two-hundred thousand people. Orange County is famous for its tourism, as it is home to attractions like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, as well as over forty miles worth of coastline that make for some attractive beach going. The majority of Orange County’s history begins after the 1769 expedition of Gaspar de Portola, led by Junipero Serra who gave the area the name of Valle de Santa Ana. Over the plentiful decades of growth via Mission settlements, agricultural expansion and railroad development, Orange County would grow into the populous, beautiful county that it is today.
Orange County experiences the typical Californian weather, as well as the swells, heat and light breezes off of the Pacific coast, with higher heats in the rocky hill areas. Temperatures stay fairly consist throughout the year with higher heats, precipitation and humidity involved, especially in the summer months.
